The entire staff of Great Lakes Pediatric Dentistry would like to welcome Dr. Aimen Khaliq! She’s a patient, caring and thoughtful pediatric dentist, and one that everyone should be happy to feel confident with on their dental appointments.
She believes that all kids deserve to feel comfortable.
Because some kids are nervous at the thought of a dental office visit, she works hard to know each child’s unique personality to make their appointments a positive experience, helping them feel comfortable, safe, and understood. Dr. Khaliq wants kids to feel safe and trust their dentists at an early age, while also giving parents a solid framework for taking care of their child’s smile.
Pediatric Education and Professional Experience
Dr. Khaliq is educated and completed specialty training in her hometown of Philadelphia, PA.
She completed undergraduate work at Rosemont College, prior to earning her dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She worked in general dentistry for two years following her graduation, and discovered during that time that children held the most significant and meaningful part of her profession. Her interests include working with children that have special health care needs, have dental anxiety, and even those children that have difficulty finding a provider that works for them.
That desire pushed her to pursue a specialty in Pediatric Dentistry, completing her residency program at Geisinger Medical Center where she received training in child focused dental care, behavior management, pediatric sedation and treatment under general anesthesia. She received broad training for working with children who have a broad array of needs and complex care situations. She completed her pediatric training in 2022 and is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Pediatric Work Experience
Before Dr. Khaliq joined the team at Great Lakes Pediatric Dentistry, she spent time serving the pediatric community of inner-city Philadelphia where she learned and refined her compassionate approach to dental care. Dr. Khaliq will continue providing comprehensive pediatric dental care in Clawson, MI with Great Lakes Pediatric Dentistry, which includes preventive dentistry, restorative care, behavior management techniques, sedation dentistry, general anesthesia cases and care for those with special health care needs. She is privileged at Pioneer Surgical Center and a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and the Michigan Association of Pediatric Dentistry.
Warm and Individualized Pediatric Dentistry
Pediatric dentistry for Dr. Khaliq is not solely focused on treatment, but also helping each child feel like they are respected, understood, and cherished. She works with families to ensure the visit meets each child’s needs whether it’s for a first visit, cleaning, or any needed dental treatment. As the mother of three children, she understands the concerns parents may have regarding choosing a provider for their child.
She translates that as a mom into patient conversations and reassurance with her patients and their parents. She fosters a warm and caring environment with an encouraging and nurturing attitude toward helping each child develop a love and respect for their teeth and their oral care habits.
Dr. Khaliq Outside the Clinic
Dr. Khaliq spends time at home caring for her three children, but loves when she can also dedicate her talents at the office for Great Lakes Pediatric Dentistry. Being a mom as well as a pediatric dentist makes her deeply understand what parents want and expect from a dental home, and she uses that to her advantage for great and personalized care. She is passionate about parent education, preventive techniques and habits, as well as instilling a positive attitude for a child’s dental journey.
